ourselvesalone: (wonder)
Hours after the wonder has worn off, Victor is beginning to see the lustre fade away from the lights and the progressions of science. He'd been so quick to escape his loft to find supplies for Miss Croft that he hadn't stopped to imagine even the most remote possibility of wandering into another universe without the potential to get back as easily as one might imagine. The morphine is beginning to wear off as day had turned to night, then to day, and Victor wakes to his reflection looking more sallow and bruised than ever.

He rubs at his tired eyes and wonders if his creature wonders where he is. Darkly, Victor wonders if there are any friends left whom Caliban can touch that are not either here or well able to defend themselves and it strikes him as frightening that, for a moment, he isn't sure which outcome he prefers.

Before he begins a day of exploration (in the hopes of perhaps finding a suitable substitute for the morphine), he thinks coffee would be a welcome thing and through the wonders of such elegant service the likes of which he hasn't seen since he was a boy, he finds exactly that in the large dining room.

He eats no food, stomach still turning with nausea. He sits beneath the chandelier again, as if he can hear the hum of electricity and all the possibilities it carries with it.

doctor victor frankenstein
no more let life divide what death can join together
Cursed with poetry very young and the unfortunate awareness of what it's like to live life alone, Victor began his pursuit of studying the anatomy of the body, but more importantly, he began to assess the line between life and death and whether it was solid or perhaps something could be forced and blurred and the line between the both might not be so permanent. With years of education and supplies (subjects), he learned that he was correct. He could create life where there was none, but as death was not serene, nor was the rebirth of his first creature.

Victor abandoned this project and strived onwards to a future, eager to pierce the veil between life and death while still hoping that his creation would hold possess the spirit of the old Romantics. He became mixed up with Sir Malcolm Murray and learned from Van Helsing that there are more immortal creatures in the dark than the one he created and let loose upon the world. Ephemeral, yet examining, Victor continues to straddle the line between the world and the demimonde, between life and death, and between control and utterly without it.

And always, lurking in the shadows, is the reminder of his sin and his shame -- his secret.

Please note that Victor will be keeping a weather eye open for any supernatural beings/creatures and may eye them with quite a bit of intensity. However that pans out is up to you, as a player, and how far you'd like to take it.

While I cannot ascertain the precise advancement involved in making such a device possible, I must admire the forward leaps I can only assume went into such a thing and it...hello? Hello?

CHARACTER NAME: Victor Frankenstein
CHARACTER CANON: Penny Dreadful

[OOC]

Slowtagging: Absolutely welcomed.
Canon-puncturing: For the time being, please avoid puncturing Victor. He already exists in a veritable horror story mash-up; learning he's fictional is a bit more than he can cope with.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): While Victor doesn't take offense very easily, he does get bored, irritated, and frustrated with topics that he considers to be not worthy of his time. He may become annoyed in the presence of small talk or inconsequential quests or topics.

[IC]

Hugging this character: He wouldn't know what to do with it.
Kissing this character: See the above.
Flirting with this character: He would endure it much as a voyeur watching, a Cyrano observing and only drawing on the strength of his poetry a beat or two later.
Fighting with this character: While Victor has no death-wish, he's very passive when it comes to physical violence. Any assault on him would likely be one-sided or met with a fairly weakened struggle.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Absolutely, anything except death.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Victor has some experience with his secrets being mined and flicked through, however please note that there are dark secrets within his mind and if you want to pull them out, go for it.

General Warnings: Obviously, he has quite the reputation in literature and while he certainly resembles them, assuming him to be exactly like the other canonical sources should be avoided.

[GODMODDING]
Victor will be back in London in the 19th century when not at the Nexus.
